Abstract : Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of light emitting diode (LED) red light combined with recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor and Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) in the treatment of elderly patients with refractory skin ulcers. Methods The clinical data of 58 elderly patients with refractory skin ulcers from February 2018 to October 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into an experimental group and a control group according to different treatment methods, with 29 patients in each group. The control group received routine surgical debridement and dressing change. After spraying external recombinant human acidic fibroblast epidermal growth factor topical solution, Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) was applied externally. The frequency of early dressing change was 2 to 3 times/d. After the wound improved, The frequency of dressing changes was changed to once every 2 to 3 days; the experimental group was combined with LED irradiation on the basis of the control group , with a wavelength of (633±10) nm, a power density of 80-100 mW/cm~2, and an irradiation time of 20 minutes. , the frequency of irradiation is synchronized with the frequency of dressing changes. The early frequency is 2 to 3 times/d. After the wound improves, it is changed to irradiation once every 2 to 3 days. A total of 4 weeks of treatment is a course of treatment. One week after a course of treatment, the ulcer area size of the two groups of patients was measured, and the quality of life score was performed to determine the clinical efficacy. And record the incidence of adverse reactions. Results There was no statistically significant difference in ulcer area and quality of life scores between the two groups of patients before treatment (P>0.05). One week after treatment, the ulcer area of the patients in the experimental group was significantly lower than before treatment (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). No obvious adverse reactions occurred in either group. Conclusion LED red light combined with recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor and Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) is effective and safe in the treatment of elderly patients with refractory skin ulcers.
