Abstract :Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) on chronic wounds. Methods A total of 40 patients with chronic wounds admitted from January 2017 to December 2018 were selected as the treatment group, and 40 patients with chronic wounds admitted from January 2015 to December 2016 were selected as the control group. The patients in the control group received conventional treatment, and the patients in the treatment group received conventional treatment combined with Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin). The treatment effect, wound healing time, number of dressing changes, visual analog scale (VAS) score and hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 100.00%, which was higher than that of the control group (75.00%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The wound healing time in the treatment group was (19.34±1.68) d shorter than that in the control group (24.46±2.43) d, the number of dressing changes was (6.47±0.45) times less than that in the control group (10.40±0.21) times, and the VAS score was (5.25±0.41) points lower than that in the control group (7.21±0.51 points), and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The hospital stay in the treatment group was (18.34±0.45) d shorter than that in the control group (25.12±0.15) d, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Conventional treatment combined with Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) is more effective in the treatment of chronic wounds, which can accelerate wound healing, reduce the number of dressing changes, and shorten the hospital stay of patients.
