Abstract : Objective To explore the effect of Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) combined with traditional Chinese medicine sitz bath on wound healing and serum epidermal growth factor (EGF) expression in elderly patients with perianal abscess after surgery. Methods 78 elderly patients with perianal abscess scheduled for surgical treatment from the Department of Anorectal Surgery in our hospital were selected and divided into an experimental group (40 cases) and a control group (38 cases) using the single-blind random number table method. From the first day after surgery, patients in both groups took sitz baths with homemade traditional Chinese medicine packs, 15 to 20 minutes/time, twice/d. Patients in the experimental group dried the affected area after taking a sitz bath and applied Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin). After 7 days of treatment, the wound healing conditions of the two groups were observed. VAS, Life Quality Scale (SF-36), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scale were used to evaluate the quality of life of the patients in the two groups. The ELISA method was used to detect the quality of life of the patients in the two groups. Serum EGF levels. Results After 7 days of treatment, the number of wound healers in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P0.05); the VAS and PSQI scores of the experimental group were significantly lower than those before treatment and the control group (P<0.01), and the SF-36 score and EGF levels were significantly higher than those before treatment and the control group (P<0.01). The proportions of wound healing in the experimental group and the control group on the 10th day were 40% and 26% respectively. Comparing the two groups, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) combined with traditional Chinese medicine sitz bath has a good clinical effect on wound healing in elderly patients with perianal abscess after surgery. It has a rapid onset of action, can relieve pain, improve quality of life and sleep conditions, and can improve the patient's quality of life and sleep by upregulating the Serum EGF levels promote wound healing.
